Unfortunately, despite being near the top of the food chain (the only natural predator being the orca whale), the sei whale remains on the endangered species list (IUCN Redlist, 2019).  With a number of factors pushing against them, including slow reproduction rates, human interference, and beaching, the sei whale is especially vulnerable.
