Environmental Threats

Red-legged frogs went extinct from the Point Reyes coast due to housing construction, agricultural development, invasive species, water diversion, climate change, novel diseases and pollution. The most horrific threat was being hunted for their legs and skin.

Socioeconomic Threats

The endangered species faces habitat loss due to residential and commercial development as well as reservoir construction, stream channelization (where a stream is deepened and or widened by dredging) overgrazing, and over harvesting.
